The first week of September is a busy week for all college students at Washington State University, and at the University of Idaho. Many parents and students go shopping at the Wal-Mart in Moscow, Idaho because it is the only local store that carries the essentials for living at a reasonable price. I noticed something very interesting when I was shopping that I thought was very interesting and took a ton of Marketing Research to determine the advertising and displays of Belkin Routers that Wal-Mart placed in the front of each checkout line.
The routers were $38.77 and were placed at the end of each register. If you think about it, college students moving into apartments, dorms, homes etc., need a router to hook up to wireless internet. Wal-Mart knew that the router is an essential item for a college student, and putting them at the endcap of the checkout lines was a great idea! Thats an impulse buy if someone wants it. They just grab it in the checkout line and put it in their cart!
